Independent Security Testing - Physical Controls

The following independent security testing services assess physical controls and their ability to effectively protect assets.

Physical Security Controls Survey

The protection of an organizations assets relies not only on technical and administrative controls but strongly on physical controls as well. A physical security survey is a review of the physical controls and their ability to sufficiently protect your organizations critical assets such as the staff, facility, data center, network, and other assets.

A physical security survey comprises the following tasks:

  • Scope Assessment. Determine physical boundaries of the assessment.
  • Understand Business Mission. Security objective are derived from business objectives, it is key to the Lantego physical security survey approach to understand the business mission and objectives of the corporation.
  • Open Physical Survey. Lantego engineers openly (not covertly) assess the physical protection measures of your organization within the boundaries defined. Controls include barriers, locking mechanisms, alarm sensors, guard operations, parking and traffic control, badging, access control, visitor control, asset and inventory control, surveilance, and lighting.
  • Assess Physical Controls. Lantego engineers assess the physical controls based on their ability to protect mission critical assets.
  • Document Security Survey. Lantego engineers will create a report that documents the method used, the vulnerabiities found, and the recommended countermeasures for physical controls.

Physical Threat Assessment

A physical threat assessment is a more in-depth assessment and risk analysis of the physical controls and their ability to sufficiently protect your organizations critical assets such as the staff, facility, data center, network, and other assets.

A physical threat assessment comprises the following tasks:

  • Scope Assessment. Determine physical boundaries of the assessment.
  • Understand Business Mission. Security objective are derived from business objectives, it is key to the Lantego physical security survey approach to understand the business mission and objectives of the corporation.
  • Open Physical Survey. Lantego engineers openly assess the physical protection measures of your organization within the boundaries defined. Controls include barriers, locking mechanisms, alarm sensors, guard operations, parking and traffic control, badging, access control, visitor control, asset and inventory control, surveilance, and lighting.
  • Covert Physical Survey. Lantego engineers will covertly assess certain physical controls to more completely assess their effectiveness. These controls can include the following: asset protection, access control, alarm sensors, locking mechanisms, and surveilance.
  • Assess Physical Controls. Lantego engineers assess the physical controls based on their ability to protect mission critical assets.
  • Analyze Risk. The risk analysis technique requires that Lantego engineers determine asset valuation, system criticality, likelihood of vulnerabilities, likelihood of threats, and the impact of any uncovered risks. This process is known as risk analysis.
  • Mitigate Risk. Lantego engineers will determine appropriate countermeasures to reduce the risk level to the organization. These countermeasures will likely be a combination of administrative, physical, and technical solutions.
  • Document Risk Assessment. Lantego engineers will create a report that documents the method used, the risks found, and the recommended countermeasures.
